President Bishop Alexios Mar Eusebius Inspires MGM College with a Vision for Holistic Education
On November 8, 2024, MGM College proudly hosted His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Calcutta Diocese and Manager Bishop of MGM Institutions, for an inspiring program that resonated with purpose and vision. In a powerful address, Bishop Alexios called on students and faculty to pursue education that transcends academic achievement, underscoring the importance of nurturing both intelligence and character. Quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he reminded the audience, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.” He passionately encouraged students to build values alongside knowledge, urging them to think beyond textbooks and contribute meaningfully to society. Acknowledging the rise of artificial intelligence, Bishop Alexios advised students to embrace AI as a tool to enhance their academic pursuits. He stressed that while technology offers immense potential, true education is rooted in wisdom, ethics, and character.
The event opened with a ceremonial lamp-lighting led by Bishop Alexios, Principal, and the College Administrator Fr. Giju George. Principal, Dr. Behera, in his welcome address, highlighted MGM College’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. The invocation prayer was led by Ms. Limekali Shohe, Assistant Professor, setting a solemn and hopeful tone. Skillfully moderated by Mr. Kulungoi Tetseo, Head of the Department of Economics, the program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mr. Fuchumo Yanthan, Head of the Department of History. The event marked a memorable day for MGM College, reinforcing its mission to foster a balanced education that empowers students to lead with integrity and purpose.
Earlier, His Grace presided the Governing body meeting and had a valuable discussion with GB members regarding
the further development of the college.
