Dimapur, February 22, 2025: The Department of Political Science, MGM College, successfully organized an educational tour to Diezephe Craft Village, Chumoukedima District, Nagaland, providing students with an immersive experience of the region’s rich traditional craftsmanship. A total of 46 students and one faculty member participated in this insightful visit to Diezephe Craft Village, a hub of indigenous art known for its skilled weavers and artisans. The tour aimed to expose students to the intricate world of Naga handicrafts and the cultural legacy of the community. During the visit, students explored the craft factory and engaged in hands-on interactions with local artisans, gaining firsthand knowledge about various handicraft techniques, including wood carving, bamboo work, and intricate weaving. The highlight of the tour was an interactive session with the Proprietor of the Craft Showroom, who shared valuable insights into the craft industry, emphasizing the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship in traditional arts. Speaking on the occasion, the faculty in charge expressed appreciation for the artisans’ dedication to preserving Naga heritage and encouraged students to explore the vast potential of indigenous craftsmanship. The educational tour left a profound impact on the students, inspiring them to appreciate and support traditional handicrafts.
